As mentioned previously, "DWEMER" is a Java applet, so it requires that you have installed the Java plug-in for your browser. It's been designed and tested with version 1.4.0 of Sun's plug-in, so your mileage may vary with other versions, but any plugin version 1.2 and higher should work just fine. Don't have the plugin? Internet Explorer and Netscape should prompt you to install it automatically when you attempt to use the applet, but if not, you can get it yourself at Sun's Plugin download page.
Have the plug-in and still no luck? Make sure you have javascript enabled in your browser, then take a peek down at the common problems and reported bugs sections to see if your problem's been reported already. Then try out Sun's Java Plugin Test Page. If you have problems there, then your browser probably isn't configured correctly for the plugin or your plugin needs to be updated in order to run the DWEMER applet. If the test applet worked and DWEMER didn't, then please let me know. Here's what I'll need from you:
- What browser you're using and it's version number.
- What operating system you're running.
- What version of the plugin you're using.
- A description your problem. "Your applet is total junk," is not a description of the problem. Neither is, "It doesn't work." But, c'mon, you knew that, right? To fix it I need to know whether or not the applet loaded at all, any error messages displayed by your browser and especially any messages displayed in the applet's text area. If you could get me any error messages from the Java console (and you know how to do that) I'd really appreciate it.
Common Problems (and the solutions!)
None! Am I just that good? Probably not. I'll update this when there've been some problems reported that require more than a fix on my end of things. In the mean time, if you've had some sort of trouble with the applet that you've fixed yourself (and you're not some angry, basement-dwelling misanthrope) then share some love and let me know what your problem was and how you fixed it. If it's noteworthy (i.e., common and not just boneheaded) I'll post it here and give you credit right over here.
Reported Bugs
If I know about it, you can probably find it here.
